1, Mendhar, 21 Jun 2019. Indian Army celebrated “International Yoga Day” for the awareness of local Youth of remote areas at Youth Centre, Chhatral, Govt Degree College, Mendhar & Bn HQ Mendhar on 21 Jun 2019. International day of yoga, also known as World Yoga Day is celebrated annually on 21 Jun since its inception in 2015. The declaration was done by the United Nations General Assembly after the Indian Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi in his UN address suggested the date of 21 Jun to be celebrated as International Yoga Day as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world including India.
2. The significance of the World Yoga Day is to promote global health, harmony and peace across the globe. It is celebrated worldwide to practice yoga, meditation and to spread awareness about benefits of yoga and adopting it in one’s lifestyle. International Yoga Day was observed in the Bn HQ, Youth Centre Chhatral & Govt Degree College, Mendhar on 21 Jun 2019. Students, teachers and locals of Mendhar participated in the event.
3. On the occasion, it was ensured that max troops participated in the event. Yoga instructor briefed during the event that yoga is an ancient art which was originated in India around five thousand years ago. Yoga is a good practice if one does in daily life. It helps to live healthy lifestyle and better life forever. Yoga is a practice to bring body parts together to make a balance of body, mind and soul.
