JAMMU, JUNE 22: Yougal Manhas, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri was conferred, the other day, with Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) in an investiture ceremony organized at the Sher -e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) Srinagar.
Manhas was among several other police officers and jawans of Jammu and Kashmir Police who received PMG from Governor Shri. Satya Pal Malik for gallant acts at different militancy infested areas of the troubled state.
Manhas has already been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) and Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry besides DGP Commendation Medal, Army Commanders Commendation, Parakaram Medal, Sher-e-Kashmir Medal for Meritorious Services and Aantrik Suraksha Sewa Medal.
An officer of 2001 batch of Jammu and Kashmir Police Service, Manhas has held various challenging assignments in the state administration including SDPO Mendhar, DySP Headquarters Jammu, DySP Operations Sopore, Additional SP Sopore, Additional SP Poonch, SP City Jammu, SSP Kishtwar, SP SSG and now SSP Rajouri.
His tenures as SDPO Mendhar, DySP Hqrs Jammu and DySP Ops Sopore were particularly challenging where he led police teams in many successful anti militancy operations.
He also got seriously injured during his posting as SDPO Mendhar when a fidayeen attack was carried by militants while the officer was in his vehicle where he received bullet injuries and later four bullets were removed from his body while one of the bullet is still inside the diaphragm muscle of officer and removal of same is medically not advisable .
During his present two years tenure in Rajouri, Manhas has led police team in a number of successful operations including elimination of four militants in Sunderbani, busting of a narco-terrorism racket, recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition besides maintaining of communal harmony and control over drug menace.
