Jammu/Srinagar July 29, 2019 Today Jammu And Kashmir Awami forum chairman Farooq Ahmad lead a peaceful protest march against corruption free, Drugs fee and violence free Jammu & Kashmir today from old secretariat to clock tower lal chowk Srinagar. The main issue of the protest was corruption PRIMERILY along with drug de-addiction and all the social evils in the state & to raise the voice so that these evils are totally uprooted from the J&k for long lasting development and prosperity of the state.
Chairman Jkaf Farooq Ahmed said that Governor of J& K is fully cooperative with us in our mission. We request central as well as state Govt. to take steps on fast track basis to take strong action against corrupt politicians and Bureaucrats who have looted money of common man and have made illegal assets of billion and common man is suffering from basic rights for their survival. We hope we will see better future which will be corruption free and free from all social and political evils. He further added that this was just the beginning, and the coming months will see more such programs and gatherings of locals to stress their need for peace and end to Corruption & All well-meaning Kashmiris and those who genuinely want to end this across-the-border sponsored terror, will join our movement. He also accused both main political parties of valley of 35 A and 370 misuse for vote bank politics .
The prominent executivemembers of jkaf who lead this march include Gul Rehman,Bashir Ahmad bhat,Fayaz Ahmad sheikh , mohd Yousuf mir( Vice Chairman), Bashir Ahmad.,Syed sahib, Sheikul Rahman ,riyaz Ahmad mir Rayees and mir Fayaz Ahmad
All steps and progress we made could not have happened without the support and guidance of honorable Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Maharaj jiand this programme is one of the protest of our party against corruption and corrupts in the society ,all said in one voice
It is important to note that 2,400 (Two thousand & Four hundred ) from civil Society participated in Panchayat Elections on Independent Platform through Jammu and Kashmir Awami forum, out of which one thousand seventy two candidates won the elections, And 202 ( two hundred two) were elected Sarpanches and 870 were elected Panches in Kashmir division Last year
Similar marches were also taken out previously in Kupwara, Budgam and Charar e sharif with a similar call to end militancy, had seen over 5000 people including men, women and children participate, marching from the villages Along the route, activists from adjoining villages had joined these long march in hundreds .
Christened Paigam-e-Mohabbat March, the latest march comes as the third display of people’s anger and frustration against militancy over the last few months, marking a clear call from ordinary citizens against the divisional forces that are working to alienate the valley’s residents. It is not only a clear call for peace, but also an unmistakable appeal to all peace loving residents to unite and fight against divisional forces and restore the valley to its former glory.
The Jammu & Kashmir Awami Forum, headed by Mr Farooq Abdul Ghani, is also part of Jammu Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC) which comprises of multiple civil society groups. Incidentally, in the month of March 2018, JKCC had invited Art of Living Founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to address and interact with various delegations of youth and local people. Addressing a gathering of over 12000 people, Sri Sri had then stated, “This Paigam-e-Mohabbat was started because of the calls from your heart…if we sit with old issues, we will remain sad. We have to look forward. We have the strength, the confidence that we can move ahead with resilience, and look at our society’s future.” He had later also personally interacted with local delegations as well as youth who had given up militancy, and heard the concerns of the locals impacted by decades of militancy tearing the valley apart.
