Sgr Leh Highway Thrown open for Essential Supplies

18 OIL TANKERS ALLOWED TO MOVE TOWARDS LADAKH

After remaining closed for about Six months the 434-km Srinagar-Leh national highway was opned for heavy goods vehicular traffic today .

Cdr 32BRTF Col Mukash Singh SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, Oc Zojila ARTo Gbl Dysp Traffic Ganderbal, Tehsildar Gund Fareed Ahmad flagged off 18 oil tankers towards Ladakh.

SSP Ganderbal said that only 18 authorised Oil Tankers allowed to move towards Ladak and in second phase trucks carrying vegetables and other essential commodities will be permitted to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice a versa in particular days.

SSP said movement of pedestrians, passengers vehicles, trucks and other vehicles is prohibited, and only driver and conductor will be allowed in these authorised vehicles allowed to ply in the highway.

Pertninent to mention thay Srinagar-Leh highway was closed from December 2019 due to heavy snowfall on the Srinagar Kargil highway.
