Communally sensitive pictures shared on facebook, Cyber cell starts investigation

JAMMU, May 27: A few communally sensitive pictures have been shared on a Facebook account allegedly operated by a police constable posted in Jammu city. However, acting swiftly into the matter Jammu Cyber Police has started investigation into the case. “In an incident involving facebook profile having photographs of communally sensitive nature, also using identity and picture of a police constable has gone viral on social media which seems to have been maliciously designed to create communal tension”, a senior Police Officer said, adding that in this matter cognizance has been taken and investigation has been started in Cyber Police Station, Jammu to unveil the truth. “It has also been noticed that the photograph of the police constable has been used in the profile”, the officer said. “People are requested not to fall prey to the agenda of anti-social elements. We assure strict legal action against the miscreants”, the officer said. Meanwhile, chairman Public Rights Foundation, Amandeep Singh Boparai and Sofia Sagoo, vice president Mahila Morcha, expressed their resentment over the facebook profile of a police constable. They have appealed to Director General of Police to constitute a team to investigate the matter, adding that if this facebook id is really genuine then dismiss the cop and kick him out of the police department and if anyone has created a fake profile then also bring the culprit to justice.
