32-year-old labourer killed under wooden log in Lolab forests

Srinagar, Jun 17 (Agency): A 32-year-old labourer died and another suffered injuries after coming under a wooden log in Lolab forests of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.

Reports reaching agency said that the incident took place this afternoon at Affan forests where the laborers engaged by the Forest department at Compartment Number 61 of NL Range were clearing the area of logs and deadwood.

In the incident one Ghulam Hassan Mir son of Saif-ud-Din Mir died on spot after a wooden log hit him on his head. Another person identified as Ghulam Ahmad Wagay hailing from Charar-i-Shareef of Budgam has also suffered serious injuries.

The injured has been evacuated to District Hospital Kupwara, where his situation is said to be critical.

Confirming the incident SHO Kuligam, Mudasir Ahmad told Agency that the body of the deceased recovered. “We have launched an inquiry into the incident to ascertain the cause of the accident”, he added. Agency.
