Jammu Police recovered 60 kgs of poppy straw from an oil tanker and arrested two drug peddlers in order to foil the inter state drug trade

Today during patrolling SHO Channi Himmat Insp. Karan Chalotra alongwith I/c PP Sanik colony SI Anil Kumar stopped an oil tanker. On seeing the police party the driver tried to flee from the spot. The team successfully apprehended the driver alongwith oil tanker bearing registration no. PB08EK/9573 at NHW near Gujjar Charitable Trust, Channi Himmat. During search the police party recovered 60 kgs of Poppy Straw from the possession of accused persons namely (1)Harpal Singh @ Pala S/o Shiv Singh R/o Kot Rani, Phagwara, Kapurthala, Punjab and (2) Surjan Singh @ Mod S/o Jagdish Singh Saini R/o Satnampur Phagwara, Kapurthala, Punjab. In this connection, case FIR No. 73/2020 U/s 8/15/29/60 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation into the case is in process.
