Negligence in Ayushman Bharat survey, poor family kept out of scheme
Facing financial constraints for treatment

POONCH, July 19: The negligence on part of the concerned department for not including a poor family in the survey of Ayushman Bharat scheme has brought more miseries for it as one of the ailing members of the family is not getting proper treatment due to financial constraints.
Bharat Bhushan Chadha, resident of Ward No. 2 of Mendhar of district Poonch, who has been suffering from an infection in his both legs for the last five years and due to poor financial condition facing difficulties to get the desired treatment.
Despite being poor, Bharat Bhushan was not included in Ayushman Bharat survey, under which cashless benefit up to Rs 5 lakh is provided to the beneficiaries. “Doctors have recommended operation of my legs and opined that if the problem was not treated soon, my legs might be cut off due to increasing infection,” he said.
Chadha further said that he took personal loan from the bank and also took the help from relatives and friends for his treatment. “Till date I have spent Rs 8 lakh on the treatment but there is not much relief. Doctors have asked to conduct an operation, for that more money is needed but we have limited resources,” he said.
“Three injections worth Rs 1500 have to be administered to my father daily. If today we had a Golden Card of Ayushman Bharat, we would have arranged better treatment for our father without any financial constraints,” said Dipanshu Chadha, son of Bharat Bhushan.
The members of the family alleged that their family was deliberately ignored by the BLO, who had come to conduct a survey in their area despite the fact that they are poor and deserve Ayushman Bharat scheme benefit. “We have no source of income and are facing difficulty in getting treatment for my father,” they said.
They demanded inquiry against the erring BLO and sought strict action against the erring employee. The locals alleged that this is not the only case, there are such similar cases where poor, deserving families have been left out of this scheme while rich, whose family members are government employees have been included in it and have been issued Golden Card.
Even the concerned Panch, Sarpanch also never took note of the problem of Bharat Bhushan. He alleged that they only come to seek votes and after that they remain inaccessible.
When contacted, BMO Mendhar Dr Parvez said that as per 2013-14 survey, Bharat Bhushan’s name has not been included but we have sent a report of left out families and a fresh survey will be conducted after the threat of COVID-19 pandemic gets subsided
