We want development in our area,Public
MENDHAR/BALAKOT: As per local sources Villages in Balakote of Mendhar sub divison are under constant threat of Pakistan’s aggressive Ceasefire Violations and therefore elections in these areas are under constant threat of Disruption. Civil administration had taken special measures to ensure smooth conduct of DDC elections in 13 villages of this block which are ahead of the Fence.
These villages are remote and the local army units under Bhimber Gali Brigade provide not only a secure environment to them but also are working towards development activities umder Op Sadbhavana. Since abrogation of the Article 370 a new enthusiasm has been witnessed in these villages for local body elections.
The response of the villages during the DDC was overwhelming and nearly 74% voting percentage was recorded, thanks mostly to the secure environment ensured by the armed forces. The elections infuse confidence among people towards fulfilment of their long standing demands of provisioning of basic amenities. These DDC elections have possibly ushered a new era for this area.
The Indian Army always helps people on the border in every possible way, whether it is during Pakistan’s shelling or at any other time. According to the information, polling was held today at 52 polling booths in Balakot tehsil, of which there were 9 booths on that side of Fencing where there is always a threat of Pakistan’s shelling.
According to the sources, late in the evening, Pakistan had fired in violation of the ceasefire, because Pakistan never wants democracy to win in India. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the District Development Council elections with great enthusiasm but Pakistan is not able to digest this and therefore keeps trying its nefarious designs to disrupt peace and harmony in J&K.
The people of Balakot have shown Pakistan today that they are not going to be afraid of Ceasefire Violations, will definitely exercise our right to vote to support democratic process come what may.
