Grave injustice done to Kashmiri Community Living in Poonch : Dilshad Qadri

Mendhar: Social Activist Dilshad Qadri in a statement said that people of Kashmiri community living in District Poonch denied the benefit of PSP reservation they are residing in District Poonch from centuries and only speak pahari.

He Said “Making an amendment to the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules, a notification has been issued by the Social Welfare department which grants 4 per cent reservation to Pahari-speaking people. It is significant to note that the circular has added to Rule 21 subsection (ix) clause (a) and (b) which read,

(a) “A person claiming the benefit under the Pahari Speaking People Category must be a member of the Pahari Clan, Community or Tribe having Distinct Cultural, Ethnic and Linguistic identity.

(b) He/She must be speaking Pahari language and his/her mother tongue must be Pahari.”

He Further Said” Kashmiris of Poonch and Rajouri are part and parcel of the Pahari community and Pahari is their mother tongue.”

The J & K government of the Union Territory of Kashmir must constitute a committee to look into the whole range of issues relating to the Pahari language and the people who adhere to it. Pahari is spoken by Muslims (including Kashmiri), Sikhs, Hindus and Christians living in Jammu and Kashmir and it is grossly unfair to leave out any section. he added
