Poonch, January,31:District Development Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav on Sunday launched the three days long Pulse Polio Programme in the district.
A total of 81385 children, below the age of five years will be administered oral polio vaccine in the district.
Chief Medical Officer informed that 426 vaccination booths set up in the district.He further informed that 1708 workers have been deputed to these established booths besides 85 supervisors for ensuring absolute coverage. Apart from all the hospitals in the district, the vaccine will be made available at primary health centres, Anganwari and sub-centres.After administering the vaccine, a small mark will be made on the finger of the child using a marker pen.
CMO said that on the first day, children will be administered to vaccination at booth level and on the second and third day, a house to house vaccination drive shall be conducted to cover the left out children of the district.
Speaking on the occasion,DDC said that district administration Poonch is making concerted efforts to safeguard the children from the crippling disease besides eradicating the menace of polio from the district.
DDC said that the programme shall be conducted in all the subdivisions of the district and asked the concerned officers from the Health Department to work in a mission mode and with added zeal in order to ensure the 100% coverage of the children under the programme in the next two days.
DDC directed the concerned officers to ensure that all the COVID19 protocols are followed while carrying out different activities related to the programme to avoid the risk of infection.
On the ocassion, Chief Medical Officer, G.A Malik, Medical superintendent, Dr. Mushtaq Hussain, Dr. Desh Raj Changotra, Health Inspector, Anjali Sharma, Ravinder singh besides staff members were present.
