Lt Gen Pandey to take over GOC 15 Corps on Thursday

Lieutenant General Devendra Pratap Pandey will take over as General-Officer-Commanding of the 15 Corps Srinagar on Thursday replacing Lt Gen BS Raju who will be posted as DGMO at Army headquarters in New Delhi.
A top official told that Lt. Gen DP Pandey has arrived in Kashmir and will take over GOC of 15 corps from 18th of this month.
Pandey in his 35 years career served as first Director-General of Territorial Army  and has been decorated with Ati Vishist Seva Medal and Vishist Seva Medal besides numerous other awards.
He is a National Defence Academy alumnus and was commissioned from the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, into the Sikh Light Infantry Regiment in December 1985.
Moreover, the General has completed the strategic leadership course from the National Defence College and completed his National Security Strategy course from the National War College, National Defence University.
Lt Gen. Pandey also had a long tenure in Kashmir, with six postings with Chinar Corps in his career.
He also served in Kashmir and commanded Rashtriya Rifles Sector and the Anti Insurgency Force. He is well versed in counter-insurgency activities in the valley.
Apart from these, he is also qualified officer in Mountain Warfare courses and also commanded the battalion in the Siachen Glacier and Chushul Sector, which helped his elevation as the Commander of XV corps.
While as, Lt Gen B S Raju, who is General-Officer-Commanding of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps will be posted as the new Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) in New Delhi.
Lt Gen Raju, who has extensive experience in counter-militancy operations, will succeed Lt Gen Paramjit Singh who has taken charge as Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (strategy).
“Lt Gen Raju is expected to take charge as the new DGMO in late March or early April. He has vast experience,” the officer said.
Lt Gen Raju had served as the commander of the Army’s ‘Victor Force’ which is responsible for counter-insurgency operations in the volatile south Kashmir region.
