Jammu: One held for illegal detention, torture of girl child

Bhaderwah Police has arrested a man for illegal detention and torture of a girl child.

The accused namely Bashir Ahmad son of Ghulam Qadir Lone of village Ghuraka, tehsil Bhalla, was arrested on the complaint of a woman namely Saleema Begum wife of Senior Grade Constable Mohd Mussa, a resident of Bimmu Batyas, tehsil Gandoh (at present living at Qasaab Mohalla, Bhaderwah).

In her complaint, the woman mentioned that she handed over her 5-year-old girl child to Bashir Ahmad for education and care but when one day when she telephonically approached him to send her girl child back, Bashir instead of handing her back, wrongfully confined the girl child and torture her brutally.

When the police called Bashir for investigation, he instead of handing over the girl child to her mother went underground and switched off his mobile phone. Thereafter, he managed to drop the girl child to her home through some unknown person. As the woman on receiving the girl child, found torture marks on her entire body, she approached Police Station Bhaderwah and submitted a written complaint.

Accordingly, a case FIR Number 95/2021 under Section 342/323/ read with 75 Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 was registered at police station Bhaderwah and the girl child was shifted to GMC Doda for specialized treatment.

After hectic efforts, Bhaderwah police also nabbed the accused from Bhalla area. Further, investigation of the case is going on.
