Trucker held by Ramban Police with 180-kg poppy straw

A trucker was arrested on Sunday with a contraband of poppy straw by the police in Ramban District of Jammu and Kashmir.Police spokesman said that a bid to smuggle narcotics was foiled on the national highway at Jawahar Tunnel when police arrested one drug peddler in Banihal area of Ramban district. He said that during the routine checking police party intercepted one Truck for checking which was on its way from Srinagar towards Jammu.During the process of checking 180-Kg of Poppy Straw was recovered from the possession of the driver identified as Sanjay Singh of Suriansar, Jammu and he was arrested on the spot.
A case under relevant sections was registered and investigation started.
