The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday will hold virtual discussions with its representatives in Jammu and Kashmir and deputy commissioners regarding the delimitation of the 90 Assembly constituencies in the Union territory.
The meeting is the first major political outreach by the Centre to end the political impasse in the UT after the abrogation of Article 370.
The ECI will hold discussions with the representatives of the commission and 20 deputy commissioners in two sessions.
According to schedule, the Deputy Election Commissioner would hold a meeting with DEOs of Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Jammu, Samba Rajouri and Poonch between 11:00 am to 12: 30 pm.
Later, he would hold a meeting with DEOs of Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Udhampur, Reasi, Kathua, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag between 13:30 pm to 15:00 pm.
The meeting is being held after DCs submitted data about electorate, topography and other details of the Assembly constituencies within their jurisdiction.
