Rahul Gandhi drives tractor to Parliament in support of farmers protesting against farm laws

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday drove a tractor to reach Parliament to protest against the three farm laws. Rahul was, however, not allowed to enter the Parliament premises on the tractor. Security officials at the entrance stopped him as vehicles having valid passes are allowed to enter the Parliament Complex.

Rahul was accompanied by party colleague and Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda. Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and BV Srinivas were detained outside Parliament for violating Section 144. They were later taken to Mandir Marg Police Station.

Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament, Rahul said that the Modi government should repeal the three “controversial” farm laws.

“…have brought the message of farmers to the Parliament. They are not allowing discussion over their demands in Parliament. Farmers are being crushed, their voices are being supressed…that is why we are here. These are black laws…they will have to withdraw the laws,” the former Congress president Rahul Gandhi told reporters outside the Parliament gate.

“The laws will only benefit a few businessmen… the whole country knows whom these laws will benefit,” he added.
