Arushi Verma, a resident of Jammu and a student of Jodhamal Public School scored 98.8% in CBSE class 12th examinations. Arushi’s Father is an Architect and her Mother is a Doctor. Scoring the highest marks in Jammu, she had an exclusive interview with executive Ashish Kohli.
Q. Congratulations Arushi! How happy is everyone around especially School authorities?
My School authorities congratulated me for the good result. Then they called me to the School to have pictures with them. They also contacted Media to have my interview. Then my relatives constantly called my Parents and they too congratulated us. So, everyone is happy and in joy.
Q. First covid-19 then lockdown. Were you excited for your result?
I was waiting for the results since the day our exams got cancelled. No one was clear with the formula of results. There was a confusion about how the marks will be calculated and how much they will end up to. Since the Supreme Court had announced the results to be out till 31st July, whole month was messed up but by God’s grace I scored good marks.
Q. Tell us something about your Parents’ and Teachers’ support.
My Parents have supported me the most from the starting of my journey. Many students get a little lenient towards studies in 11th standard but my Parents always pushed me towards success and encouraged to keep doing well. My Teachers also were very supportive and chilled. They taught me very well and at the same time we all used to have during classes.
Since my Mother is a Doctor, she taught me biology till 10th standard. In 12th I opted for humanities so the link of teaching broke but the mentoring didn’t stop.
Q. Congratulations Ma’am (Arushi’s Mother) How happy are you and what is the future planning for her?
As all the other parents, I’m happy with my daughter today. Her result has made us all feel proud. Her future planning is upto her. In 11th I suggested her to opt Medical so that she could become a Doctor but she wanted to study Humanities and proceeded with it. Today she has come out with flying colours and I feel she has the rights to choose the best for herself.
I just wish that she continues to study this way and become something good in life.
Q. Anil Ji (Arushi’s Father) Tell us something about Arushi’s schedule and her results.
Arushi has been a brilliant and consistent student. I never got the chance to force her to study. She is always with her books gathering knowledge. In fact, these days there are no exams still she studies for 6-8 hours. Our family support is always with her. Whatever she wants to pursue in life, her Parents are always with her.
Q. Any message for other parents?
I suggest other parents to make their children aware of what’s happening in the World, what all scopes exist of a particular field. Then let them decide what they want to do in life and I’m sure they’ll work hard to prove themselves right.
Q. Arushi what are your hobbies?
Apart from studying, I like reading novels. I’m also fond of writing. Maybe in future, I become a writer (smiles). I’m interested in cooking and baking too. Like, my family can depend on me for cooking a whole meal (laughs).
Q. Any suggestions for the students in 12th standard?
Studying is like eating and drinking water. You get to learn new things every time you open a book! I’ve heard students saying there’s no need to study because they’re getting mass promoted. But I want to remind them that covid-19 will not exist forever. The moment it ends, these children will suffer.
Make studying an important part of your life and work hard.
Q. Your future plans?
I’ll be taking admission in Lady Sri Ram College in Delhi University and pursue B.A in Literature from there. As I said I aspire to become a writer, this degree would help me in learning more about it.
