Tightening the noose against smuggling of liquor from the neighbouring state of Punjab, Jammu Police on Sunday seized a large quantity illicit liquor from a bus driver in Purmandal area here in the city outskirts.
Station House Officer, Police Station, Gangyal Raghubir Singh Choudhary said that during a naka checking at Purmandal Morh one sleeper bus ferrying passengers, coming from Bari Brahmana, was stopped for checking.
The officer said that during search 54 bottles of top quality liquor and 24 cans of beer, were recovered from the possession of driver.
The driver identified as Sudesh Sharma, resident of Banglad, Samba, was arrested.
A case under relevant sections of the Exise Act was registered and investigation started.
