The work on the Jammu-Bathinda gas pipeline project will be completed in 2024-25. Development in Jammu and Kashmir is the priority of the central government. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has also said on Thursday that the central government is ready to bring petrol and diesel under the purview of GST, but no state government is prepared for it. He said that the previous Congress governments are responsible for the rising petrol and diesel prices at present. He assured me that all the problems of the Jammu and Kashmir Metro projects would be resolved.
The Central Government has been running a Central Public Relations Program to know the status of development projects and the people’s aspirations in Jammu and Kashmir. Under this, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also in Jammu on Thursday. He said that providing a gas pipeline to Jammu and Kashmir is a national project in a press conference. It is expected that by the year 2024-25, the work of the Jammu-Banthda gas pipeline will be completed. He said that at present, the gas pipeline in the country is 19 thousand km. 4000 km will increase in the next few years. After awarding the contract, the minister said that it takes one more year to complete the work as many aspects have to be examined. Its cost is also taken into account.
On the issue of lifting water from the Chenab river if the water supply is affected due to lake formation in Tawi, Hardeep Puri said that the Jal Shakti Department and other concerned departments will also be discussed so that the water level and drinking water supply in Tawi is not disrupted. This will be the solution. He said that the Tawi River Front would be developed under the Smart City Project. Hardeep Puri is also the Union Minister for Housing, Urban Affairs.
