MENDHAR: The Mendhar Gunners under the aegis of Ace of Spades Division celebrated 73rd Republic Day at Mendhar (J&K) three kms away from line of control.The event was conducted in close co-ordination with the school & local administration.
This year is being celebrated as the “75 Azadi Ka Mahotsav “by the nation. On the occasion 73rd Republic day, the Commanding Officer of Mendhar Gunners extended his heartfelt wishes to all present during the event. He laid emphasis on the role & responsibilities of each & everyone towards the nation building. Addressing the gathering of more than 250 of all age groups, the commanding officer said, a responsible citizen with patriotic feeling is an asset to the nation & society.
The event witnessed unfurling of the flag followed by national anthem and patriotic songs. The students also participated in a march past. Cultural programme and yoga demonstration, skipping competition, push up competition & tug of war were organized where is students participated enthusiastically show casing their skills. The event coincided with a medical camp organised by regimental Medical officer.
Medical camp was attended by the local population staying away from the government medical set up in a remote area.
The opportunity was also utilized to create awareness among the populace about the prevalent Omicron variant of COVID-19 and importance of booster dose of the vaccine. Towards the end representative of State Bank of India , Mendhar Branch apprised the gathering about various savings schemes of central government and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana to inculcate the habit of savings among the students and parents.
The local Sarpanch , senior citizens and staff of the school thanked the Indian army and Mendhar Gunners for organising the event and their continued patronage towards the institution.
