Three militant associates held in J&K: Police

On Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three militant associates with arms and ammunition in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

As per police spokesman, during the investigation of the Case of grenade incident (FIR no.22/2022 U/S 307 IPC,3/4 Explosive substance Act,16/20 UAP Act of PS Zainapora) in Shopian.

Police Shopian picked up one suspect based on reliable source namely Fazil bin Rashid s/o Abdul Rashid Alai r/o Melhura. During questioning discloses that he was working with one active terrorist Basit Ahmed of Frisal Kulgam, on whose behest he threw a grenade on 19th of March 2022 at Babapora camp (D-Coy of CRPF 178 Bn), in which one Crpf jawan, namely Amit Kumar, was injured,” he said.

He further discloses that he lobbed grenade as a task given by the said Terrorist Basit Ahmed of LeT/TRF from Frisal to join terrorist rank.

Subsequently, on his disclosure, police, Shopian picked one Qaiser Zahoor Khan s/o Zahoor Ahmed Khan of Nowpora Safakadal Srinagar. On whose disclosure, Police Shopian recovered following Arms and ammunition, 03 Chinese Pistol, 02 pistol magazine, 06 grenades, 04 live round of 9mm calibre.

All of three accused arrested in the Instant Case. Further investigation going on,” he said.
